How To Wash Whites In Laundry

Today you are going to learn how to wash the whites when you’re doing your laundry. The white load is the only load where you purposely put clorox bleach in your laundry load in addition to the detergent. So, whites as you know can turn brown from stains, ring around the color, blood stains, grass stains, etc. White clothes can be tricky to get clean and white and fresh and new when washing. So, we are here today to tell you how to wash whites.

Of course as with any laundry load, empty pockets, remove anything valuable, and determine the load size on the washing machine. Choose the normal setting?and the water should be on hot. (This is for regular whites not delicate whites- please see our tip on how to wash delicates for that.) Load the whites into the washing machine add start the water. Next add 1/2 cup of bleach – the estimate is 1/4 cup of bleach to every size load. So if you have a really large load that’s when you use a 1/2 cup of bleach. If it was a medium load?you would only use a 1/4 cup of bleach.?(The type of bleach to use for white laundry is clorox bleach -for colored laundry there are detergents with color bleach such as cheer.)

Leave the lid up so that when the water stops filling up, the clothes can soak for approximately 10 -15 minutes. It is recommended to use a stain repellent such as Shout products on anything that you know you cannot wash immediately. After the white laundry has soaked restart the laundry and add the detergent to the mix. Let the load run its course the same as you would a regular colored laundry load. When it is done you can run it again from the rinse part in a cycle just to make sure you don’t have an over whelming bleach smell. Remember depending on the size of the laundry load, will determine how much bleach to use and whether or not a bleach smell will linger.

You can also add some woollite to the laundry load to ensure your whites look almost new. You can put the whites in the dryer and depending on the material put it on the setting for permanent press so it has heat but not an intense amount of heat to shrink the whites. You can use dryer sheets if you prefer but it is not neccesary.

**Most important rule for how to wash whites in laundry – only put whites in the laundry load -any color will stain the whites! Don’t accidentally put a red sock or a pink shirt or everything will turn pink/red!

Good Luck & Enjoy 🙂
