How To Make A Trifle

Have you ever gone to someone’s house and they bring out the most delicious looking trifle bowl for dessert? Showing layer upon layer of sweet deliciousness? It’s so easy to make it just depends on the flavors you want to go with! There are many different known trifles such as: death by chocolate, pumpkin, and strawberry banana. Whichever trifle you choose, these basic steps will help you know how to make a trifle! Note: you will need a trifle bowl for this recipe.

First, choose the flavors of the cake. Cake is the bottom layer of the trifle and serves as a base for the rest of the layers. Whichever flavor of cake you choose whether vanilla, chocolate, etc.?bake the cake the same way that you would if you were only baking a cake. So if the box of cake says 3 eggs, 1/2 cup of oil follow the same directions and bake the cake. In the meantime, prepare the rest of the ingredients so they are laid out in front of you for your trifle. For example, get the Cool Whip to room temperature, get the strawberries stems trimmed and halved, cut the bananas. Or if you’re going with a death by chocolate type of trifle, make the instant pudding so it’s ready when the cake comes out. Get the Heath bits in a bowl, get the chocolate chips in a bowl, etc.

When the cake comes out of the oven, give it about 10-15 minutes to cool. You don’t want to ruin the flavor of the other layers by having them heated up. Once it’s cooled, cut about 1/3 of the cake and using a spatula place it on the bottom of the trifle. Next, put a layer of Cool Whip. Next depending on what type of trifle you’re making put the next ingredient. So if you’re?making a trifle with fruit in it,?put a layer of the strawberries and bananas on top of the Cool Whip, then put a layer of vanilla pudding and repeat the layers. And if you’re doing a death by chocolate trifle, put a layer of chocolate pudding on top of the Cool Whip layer, and top that with heath bits and chocolate chips, repeating the layers a second time.

You will have leftover cake (about 1/3) when you’re done making your trifle, it is not needed for a trifle, simply discard it. For the finishing touch on a trifle, you need a little decoration. If you are doing a fruit trifle put a dollop of whipped cream and a spring of mint. If you are doing a chocolate trifle, put a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle some heath bits.
